Other operated departments consist of revenue generating services provided by the hotel, and the vast majority of the costs, operational responsibility and financial risk for providing these services are assumed by the hotel.

The human resource department of a hotel is engaged in anticipation, acquisition, selection, and development of the present and future employee needs of the hotel. It also includes the processes of job evaluation, recruitment, selection, and orientation.

5. FINANCE & CONTROL

The finance department in a hotel has the role of tracking the cost of running the hotel and making sure that the revenue makes a profit. The finance department has many jobs that are just pure finance and are not hospitality-specific, that's inevitable.

Hospitality Business Development analyzes and evaluates the different aspects of business growth routes and development processes in the international hospitality industry. It considers the essential features of the strategic business context, in which any hospitality organization operates, and: explores the essential requirements and challenges of hospitality business development, and the implications which these present for hospitality operators.

7. ENGINEERING SERVICE

The hotel engineering department oversees all hotel maintenance issues. They are responsible for monitoring consumption of utilities, ensuring everything is up to code and meets regulations, developing a maintenance schedule, and keeping proper records of all routine and preventative maintenance.

8. HOTEL I.T

The Information Technology department is responsible for the day-to-day support of all IT systems, business systems, office systems, computer networks, and telephony systems throughout the hotel/resort. Additionally responsible for Information Technology issues, products, and services at the property.

9. HOTEL QUALITY

Quality assurance can only be implemented effectively in properties who have support from the top, have adequate resources, and have an effective Quality Committee and training department.

To be valid, quality must be able to be measured. To be measured, quality must have a valid working definition, defined standards and be monitored at all times for continuous consistency.

Quality is a function of conformance to defined standards. Standards and quality may be good or bad, the difference is a function of ethics and of discipline.

10. HOTEL CREATIVITY

Creativity is everywhere and it all serves to surprise and delight guests.

This section is about the artwork you can create yourself. The trick when producing things in-house, is to make it look professionally done.

Make sure you follow some of the basic guidelines, such as correct use of logos, clean and legiblibly printed text and nice artwork and always have someone check the final draft before you set out to mass produce.

A hotel checklist is a tool used by the hospitality industry to inspect and improve the quality of hotel amenities and services. Perform daily inspections and keep hotel staff on track with the list of duties for each room and area of the establishment.
